How To Extract Files From Galaxy Theme App

Here are easy step by step instructions on extracting icons from themed apps for use on your dock or in other themes - I've seen this question asked a few times and I kind of had to teach myself how to do it a while ago because I didn't find a step by step guide anywhere:

1.) Use Root Explorer to go into the folder of the theme you want the icons from - watermarkd, etc. (for example: sdcard > custom themes > watermarkd)
2.) Go into the system folder > app folder
3.) Find the app that you want the icon from
4.) Long press and select "extract"
5.) This creates an "extracted" folder on your sdcard. Go into that folder and find the app you just extracted. Long press on it again and select "Extract All"
6.) Go into the new folder that is created and select "res." You might have to back out of the folder and go back in for the new folder to appear.
    7.) Select "drawable hdpi"
8.) Find the icon you want in this folder. Usually it has a name that includes something like "launcher" or "shortcut." Use an image viewer to see what they look like. When you find the one you want, long press and select "Copy."
9.) Go into your sdcard gallery and navigate to whatever folder you want to put the icons into. Press the paste button at the bottom of the screen.
10.) Now you can go to your launcher and change your icon to custom icon, navigate to your icons folder, and select the new icon.

Note: When I did this, my icons didn't appear in the folder I put them in at first. I had to connect my phone through USB and then disconnect. Then the icons showed up in my folder.

Example: Watermarkd icons on Liberty rom with Revolution Remix theme:

    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

      Download

  2. Do you know how I can get the font from a theme?

I found the fonts, but can't do anything with them. Could I zip them up and install through bootstrap?

  3. Will this work for the power control Widget from one theme to another?
  4. Hehe, way to jack the thread... ;)

Try downloading the app Font Changer Lite. Then copy those font files you found to the FontChanger folder on your sd card, then open the app to see if the fonts are selectable.

  5. Not jacking, simply adding. Same principle, extracting from one theme to use in another. It's better than having ten threads about the same or similar topics
  6. I was kidding you, hence the winky icon... :D
  7. Ok,,, Can I get my ?ion answered? Can you extract the power controls widget theme, each theme seem's to have its own power controls look.
  8. Yes you can. Blur stuff can be hard to find sometimes, I put the news and whether widget on liberty but it was called genie.apk. I cleared any remnants I could find of my phone before installing the themed one but when I reboot I loose the themed one and can't figure out why.
  9. Sounds like a lil more trouble than its worth

Hey sorry I missed this post - I'm sure you can pull widgets from themes too, you just have to know where to find them and they have to be compatible with the rom you are using I would assume. I looked briefly in a few different themes I have on my sdcard and couldn't find any power control apps. Maybe someone else who knows where they are could help you.
